Launch of the industry firsts NVQ Level 3 Inspection of Fire Resistant Doorsets

National Skills Centres Debra Green, FDM Training and Developments Nicola John, GQA Qualifications Martin Sadler and Daniel Brown were delighted to attend the launch of the Level 3 Diploma in Inspection of Fire Resistant Doorsets.

This qualification has been developed due to the gap in the industry. It sets a benchmark for the inspection of fire doors, offering a structured route for professionals to gain formal recognition of their competence in this area of fire safety.

National Skills Centres Debra Green, GQA Qualifications, FDM Training and Developments Nicola John worked collaboratively on the Level 3 Diploma qualification which focusses on the required practical skills and knowledge for fire resistant door inspection, as well as legislative compliance.

Debra Green said “We are proud to be part of this to deliver a comprehensive qualification the construction industry was missing. With this diploma, we’re changing the culture around how we demonstrate competence for inspectors, which will create a safer, more knowledgeable construction workforce.”

The launch of this qualification comes at a time when fire safety in buildings is under examination. This qualification directly addresses that need by providing an accessible framework for recognising competence in the inspection of fire doors- a crucial component of passive fire protection.

This level 3 diploma includes 12 mandatory units covering areas such as health and safety, types and classifications of fire doors, inspections preparation, inspection methods, and reporting procedures.

The successful launch marks a significant step forward for the industry – one that National Skills Centre is proud to be part of.
